Ivermectin 10 mg.
Pharmacological properties
Ivermectin is a derivative of the avermectin family, highly effective antiparasitic agents.
Active, broad spectrum.
Ivermectin causes the blockade of the transmission of nerve impulses and stimulates the
release of GABA at the level of presynaptic nerve endings (in nematodes) or at the level of
neuromuscular junctions (in arthropods), inducing paralysis and death of these parasites.
Indications and target species
Pigs: For the treatment and control of:
– Gastrointestinal roundworms (adults and L4): ascaris suum (adults and L4 ), Hyostrongylus
rubidus (adults and L4), Oesophagostomum spp. (adults and L4), Strongyloides ransoni (Adults)*.
– Lungworms: metastrongylus spp. (Adults).
– Fleas/Lice: Haematopinus suis.
- Mites: Sarcopts scabiei there. suis.
Virbamec Injectable Solution for Pigs is also indicated for the treatment of Trichuris suis
(Adults).
* Virbamec Injectable Solution for Pigs administered to sows 7 to 14 days before farrowing
effectively controls the transmission via milk of Strongyloides ransoni to the piglets
Contraindications
• Do not use in sows during the first third of gestation (1-40 days).
• Do not administer intramuscularly or intravenously.
• Do not administer in case of known hypersensitivity to the active substance.

Transient pain and/or swelling at the injection site that resolves without
treatment.
Route of administration
subcutaneous.
Posology
• 1,5 ml of Virbamec per 50 kg of live weight, that is, the equivalent of 0,3 mg of ivermectin per
kg of live weight.
• A subcutaneous injection, preferably into the loose skin at the base of the ear. The treatment
may be repeated at intervals of a minimum of 21 days.
