Pharmacological properties
Features: â-2 sympathomimetic agent.
Pharmacodynamic characteristics: It causes dilation of the bronchi. It also has a
considerable influence on bronchial cleaning mechanisms; the slimy mucus
fluidizes and removes quickly. Breathing difficulty and the frequency and intensity of coughing
they subside after a few days of regular administration of the preparation.
Pharmacokinetic characteristics: Its effect appears quickly and is maintained for 6-8
hours.
Interactions and incompatibilities
• Do not administer together with sympathomimetics, corticosteroids and phosphodiesterase inhibitors.
• Simultaneous administration with anesthetics such as halothane and cyclopropane may lead to
appearance of heart rhythm disturbances.
• Possible reduction of the effect of active substances on the uterus, such as oxytocin, prostaglandins and
ergot alkaloids.
• Antagonized by â-adrenergic blockers.
Indications and target species
Equine: Bronchopneumonia, orphanage and pneumonia.
• Adjuvant in the treatment of respiratory processes that present with spasm of the
bronchial musculature, of any origin. Cough and dyspnea as a consequence of spasms
bronchial.
• In combination with antibiotics and/or sulfonamides, and with bronchosecretolytics.
Contraindications
• In pregnant animals, treatment should be suspended 1-2 days before the expected date of delivery.
