SPASMOBRONCHAL 0,03 mg/ml Bronchodilator solution for injection

Spasmobronchal injectable solution is indicated in horses as an adjuvant in the treatment of respiratory processes that occur with spasm of the bronchial muscles, of any origin.
 Cough and dyspnea as a consequence of bronchial spasms.
 Subacute and chronic bronchitis, with symptoms of bronchoconstriction.
 Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
In acute and subacute cases of bronchitis and bronchopneumonia, administer in combination with antibiotics and/or sulfonamides, and if possible with bronchosecretolytics.
Prophylactically, in those animals in which hypersensitivity reactions to certain allergens are to be expected (stable dust, old hay, etc.), the preparation should be administered prior to exposure to the triggering allergen.

Clenbuterol hydrochloride 0,03 mg.

Pharmacological properties

General characteristics: Direct acting ß2 sympathomimetic agent.

Pharmacodynamic characteristics: Causes dilation of the bronchi. It also has a considerable influence on the bronchial cleaning mechanisms; viscous mucus is fluidized and quickly eliminated. The respiratory distress and the frequency and intensity of the cough subside within a few days of regular administration of the preparation.

Pharmacokinetic characteristics: Its effect appears quickly and is maintained for 6-8 hours.

Interactions and incompatibilities

Do not administer together with sympathomimetics, corticosteroids and phosphodiesterase inhibitors.

Simultaneous administration with anesthetics of the halothane and cyclopropane type can lead to the appearance of cardiac rhythm disturbances.

Possibility of reducing the effect of active substances on the uterus, such as oxytocin, prostaglandins and ergot alkaloids.

Antagonized by ß-blocking substances.

Indications and target species

Equine: Bronchitis, bronchopneumonia and orphanage.

Contraindications

Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.

efectos secundarios

After intravenous administration, increased sweating can be observed, particularly in the withers and neck, as well as a slight tremor in the flank muscles.

Both phenomena disappear quickly and do not need any attention.

In isolated cases, it has been possible to verify an increase in heart rate and a decrease in blood pressure. Also, a decrease in respiratory rate may appear.

Transient hyperglycemia and hyperphosphatemia may also occur without clinical relevance. The duration of these symptoms can range from a few minutes to several hours, depending on each individual case.

No influence on appetite, noise and peristaltic movements could be verified.

Posology

Horses: 0,27 ml/10 kg bw, 2 times a day.

Special precautions

Spasmobronchal® is a sympathomimetic and should, like all sympathomimetics, be considered as a doping product.

In pregnant mares, treatment should be discontinued 1-2 days before the expected date of farrowing due to its ability to inhibit uterine contractions.

Since it is excreted in milk, milk from dams treated with this drug should not be fed to newborn animals.

Wait time

Meat: 28 days.

Its use is not authorized in mares whose milk is used for human consumption.
