Pharmacological properties
This preparation contains dexamethasone sodium phosphate ester, a fluoromethyl derivative of
Prednisolone, which is a potent glucocorticoid with minimal mineralocorticoid activity. The
Dexamethasone has an anti-inflammatory activity between 10 and 20 times higher than that of
prednisolone. Corticosteroids reduce the immune response by inhibiting the
capillary dilation, leukocyte migration and function, and phagocytosis. The
Glucocorticoids act on metabolism by increasing gluconeogenesis.
Interactions and incompatibilities
• Simultaneous use with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs may aggravate ulcers in the
digestive tube.
• Because corticosteroids can reduce the immune response to vaccines, dexamethasone is not
should be used in combination with vaccines or within two weeks of vaccination.
