Chlorhexidine is a well-known antiseptic with a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity. It has proven efficacy against Gram+ and Gram- bacteria, fungi, yeasts and facultative anaerobic microorganisms.
Among its components, Xmile® depot contains 2 mg/g of chlorhexidine, transported in a novel adhesive matrix that releases the active ingredient in a sustained manner for 24 hours. This depot effect ensures prolonged contact and good fixation to tissue proteins and enamel, giving it a double antiseptic and sealing effect.
Chlorhexidine is considered the gold standard in the prevention and treatment of periodontal disease, and is recommended at doses of between 1,2 – 2 mg/g before and after different dental procedures, such as tooth extractions, ultrasonic or manual cleanings
