MULTIVA® Motion Plus
Dietary Supplement with Chondroprotective Action to Support the Maintenance of Joints and Connective Tissue Formulated in Highly Palatable Chews for Dogs.
Degenerative Joint Disease (DAD), or Osteoarthritis
(OA) refers to a progressive destruction of one of the
components that make up joints. It encompasses, of
nonspecific form, all types of joint pathology
degenerative, regardless of its location. the oa
can be classified as primary or secondary: the form
Primary occurs without an apparent initial factor, whereas primary
secondary develops from a predisposing factor.
Secondary OA is the most common joint pathology in
dogs: some studies indicate that approximately 20%
of all dogs older than 1 year have some degree of
OA. Several risk factors have been recognized for
development of OA: the breed (some breeds such as the German Shepherd or Golden Retriever may be
genetically predisposed to the development of arthritis), age, being overweight or intense exercise
(particularly during the growth and development phases) are some of them.
Clinical signs can range from subtle changes in the early stages of the disease (changes in behavior, reluctance to perform exercise or particular movements), to lameness, decreased range of motion of the joint, and muscle atrophy as the disease progresses. .
Diarthroid joints are made up of the joint capsule, synovial fluid, bone
subchondral and articular cartilage. The deterioration of any of these components can lead to a bad
joint function, pain and the progression of OA. The thickening and inflammation of the
joint capsule can cause pain and reduced range of motion. The alteration of the
synovial fluid produces pain, changes in the biomechanics of the joint and a decrease in its
protective mechanisms. The increase in subchondral bone density indirectly affects the
joint by increasing the forces on the cartilage.
Articular cartilage is a living tissue composed of chondrocytes embedded in an extracellular matrix.
composed of water, collagen and proteoglycans (PGs). PGs are made up of small
proteins, hyaluronic acid and glycosaminoglycans (GAGs). Chondrocytes are active cells that
produce collagen and PGs, necessary for the cartilage matrix. Its dividing capacity is small,
so it is very important to protect your health.
OA is characterized by structural changes in the components of articular cartilage. The changes
initials imply an increase in the destruction and a decrease in the production of proteoglycans of the
extracellular matrix. As the disease progresses, collagen and chondrocytes begin to be destroyed.
GAGs are long-chain molecules capable of trapping water, one of whose precursors is
glucosamine. They allow the adaptation of the joint capsule to changes in pressure and favor a
better shock absorption. The destruction of cartilage is characterized by the destruction of the
GAG, with the consequent loss of its properties in the joint capsule.
It is believed that chondroprotective agents may influence cartilage metabolism, providing
substrate and stimulating chondrocytes. It seems that they favor the synthesis of the cartilage matrix and
They help inhibit degradative enzymes, inflammatory mediators, and oxidative damage. Are
properties mean that they may have the potential to halt cartilage degradation and progression
of the illness.

Properties and Mechanism of Action:
MULTIVA® Motion Plus has a complete formula of 4 ingredients with a synergistic effect on the
connective tissue: glucosamine is a precursor for the synthesis of GAGs and stimulates their synthesis in the
cartilage; Perna canaliculus provides omega-3 fatty acids (EPA, DHA), GAGs, amino acids and minerals; MSM supplies organic sulfur for collagen synthesis and tissue protein binding
connective tissue and manganese is essential for the formation of collagen, GAGs and proteoglycans.
La glucosamine It is a monosaccharide and one of the main precursors for the synthesis of glycosaminoglycans (GAGs) in the extracellular matrix. Chondrocytes are capable of synthesizing it from the
glucose and glutamine; however, it is believed that they lose this ability during the course of osteoarthritis. It has been seen that vitro, exogenous administration of glucosamine stimulates the production of
collagen and proteoglycans. On the other hand, some studies indicate that glucosamine supplementation is capable of alleviating the symptoms of osteoarthritis in humans.
Perna canaliculus (New Zealand green lipped mussel) contains a complex combination
of essential fatty acids (Omega-3: ETA, EPA, DHA...), GAGs (chondroitin sulfate, hyaluronic acid...), amino acids (glutamine, methionine...) and minerals (zinc, copper, manganese...) with effects on
connective and joint tissue. It is also possible that these components act synergistically
to reduce inflammation and limit cartilage degeneration. Studies vitro have proven that DHA
and EPA increase collagen synthesis and decrease inflammatory mediators, exerting a
inhibitory action of cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase in vitro. On the other hand, some studies indicate
that supplementation with omega-3 fatty acids improves the symptoms of osteoarthritis in dogs. A
A recent study in people has shown that the combined use of DHA/EPA and glucosamine improves
remarkably the comfort of patients with osteoarthritis of the knee and hip.
El methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) is a natural organic compound rich in sulfur (34% sulfur
elementary). It is an oxidative metabolite of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) that occurs naturally
in many foods (certain fruits, vegetables, grains, and meats). It is a white crystalline substance
odorless and slightly bitter taste. The sulfur provided by MSM is used in the body to
form cysteine, an essential amino acid in collagen production and collagen chain attachment
proteins of connective tissue, hair and nails.
El manganese it is an essential cofactor in the synthesis of GAGs, collagen and proteoglycans, the main structural components of cartilage, ligaments and synovial fluid. It is believed that its supplementation can help the synthesis of the cartilage matrix.
Indications:
Administered regularly, by maintaining the structure and functionality of joints and tissue
connective tissue, MULTIVA® Motion Plus, can help in the following situations:
– As moderate support to joints and connective tissue.
– To improve joint well-being, mobility and quality of life, by helping to alleviate the effects of
aging in joints.
– For the prevention of injuries in sports, working dogs or dogs subjected to joint stress.
– As a support for post-operative recovery in orthopedic surgeries.
Target species: Dogs.
Directions:
• Initial (4-6 weeks): 1 chew for every 15 kg of weight per day.
• Maintenance: 1 chew for every 30 kg of weight per day.
Safety: In sensitive animals, administration together with or after food may
reduce the possibility of the appearance of gastrointestinal symptoms.
Warnings: VetNova is a pioneer in the development of Chews technology to facilitate the administration of supplements to dogs. Unlike tablets, capsules, etc., which are administered
"forced" in the mouth to ensure intake of the product, the Chews must be administered freely
in the feeder and let the pet take them voluntarily. Some shy dogs may
take a long time to fully accept them, but once they do the daily intake is more
easy and satisfying. To facilitate initial acceptance, the following strategies can be used during
the first week: 1) Reduce the dose and increase it progressively, 2) Divide the daily dose into
two doses (morning and night), 3) Crush the Chew and mix it with pate or any attractive food
for the pet, etc. Store the container tightly closed, in a cool, dry place, protected from sunlight and
out of the reach of children and animals. It is recommended to consult a veterinarian before using it.
