Enrofloxacin 100mg; benzyl alcohol 7,5 mg.
Pharmacological properties:
Enrofloxacin is an antibacterial that belongs to the chemical class of fluoroquinolones. The compound exerts bactericidal activity through a mechanism of action based on the inhibition of subunit A of bacterial DNA gyrase (Topoisomerase II), preventing negative axial rotation of the DNA molecule.
Enrofloxacin exerts its antimicrobial action at low concentrations, against most Gram ( ) and many Gram ( ) bacteria, both aerobic and anaerobic.
Antibacterial spectrum: Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Mycoplasma spp. and Pasteurella multocida (rabbits).
Concomitant administration of compounds containing multivalent cations (antacids, milk or milk replacers) decreases the oral bioavailability of fluoroquinolones. In birds, after oral administration of 10 mg/kg, a maximum concentration equal to 2,5 mg/ml was observed at 1,6 h post-administration, with a bioavailability of around 64%. The plasma elimination half-life was approximately 14 hours and the mean residence time was 15 hours.
In rabbits, after oral administration of 5 mg/kg bw, the drug was slowly absorbed, reaching the maximum concentration at 2,3 h; the Cmax ranged around 0,5 mg/ml. The bioavailability was 60%.
Interactions and incompatibilities:
• Do not apply simultaneously with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (convulsions may occur).
• By the oral route, simultaneous administration of substances containing magnesium, calcium and aluminum may reduce the absorption of enrofloxacin.
• Hepatic interactions may appear with other hepatic elimination drugs.
Indications and target species:
Poultry (Broilers): Treatment of colibacillosis, salmonellosis and infections caused by Mycoplasma.

Meat rabbits: Treatment of infections caused by sensitive strains of Pasteurella multocida.
• The use of this product must be restricted to those cases in which the bacteria are resistant to other antibiotics; A bacteriological confirmation of the diagnosis and a sensitivity test of the bacteria causing the process will be carried out prior to its use.
• If there is no improvement within three days of starting therapy, a change in the chosen therapy may be indicated.
Contraindications:
• Animals with cartilage growth disorders should not be treated.
• Exclude from treatment dogs and cats under 12 months of age in small and medium breeds, and 18 months of age in large breeds, or that have not completed their growth phase.
• Dogs with a clinical history of epilepsy and GABA-related nervous disorders will also be excluded.
Side effects:
• No adverse reactions derived from the administration of the drug have been collected in the target species for which it is indicated.
• However, like other fluoroquinolones, enrofloxacin has harmful action on the joints, especially in young animals. Consequently, it must be monitored that the intake of the active substance is adequate, without increasing its dosage or prolonging the treatment excessively.
Route of administration:
Oral in drinking water.
Posology:
Poultry (Broilers): 10 mg of enrofloxacin/kg bw (equivalent to 0,5 liters per 1000 liters of drinking water) every day for three consecutive days. In the case of salmonellosis, the treatment should be extended up to a total of five days.
Meat rabbits: 10 mg of enrofloxacin/kg bw (equivalent to 1 ml/liter of drinking water) for 5 days.
• Renew the medicated solution every 24 hours.
• Due to the form of administration, since water consumption depends on the animal's clinical condition, to ensure a correct dosage, the concentration of the antimicrobial will be adjusted taking into account daily water consumption.

Meat:
Poultry (broilers): 4 days.
Meat rabbits: 3 days.
Eggs: Its use is not allowed in birds whose eggs are intended for human consumption.
Conservation mode:
Keep in a cool environment, at a temperature below 20 °C and protected from light.
Remarks:
Dispensation with veterinary prescription.
