Steroidal anti-inflammatory suspension for injection

Pharmaceutical form:
Injectable suspension (Susp.i.)

Composition: per ml:
Dexamethasone isonicotinate 1 mg.

Pharmacological properties:
Dexamethasone is a synthetic cortisol-derived glucocorticoid with anti-inflammatory activity 25 times greater than cortisol and hardly any mineralocorticoid activity. In addition to its powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic activity, it acts at the metabolic level, increasing blood glucose and liver glycogen. The therapeutic effect of Deyanil Retard in the organism has a
prolonged duration for a minimum of 4 days, remaining detectable levels for 10-20 days.

Interactions and incompatibilities:
Do not administer together with: antidiabetics, barbiturates, diuretics, indomethacin, salicylates, antihistamines

Indications and target species:
Cattle: Ketosis, vitularia fever, inflammation, hypoglycemia and allergy.
Equine: Inflammation and allergy.
Dogs: Inflammations and allergies.

Contraindications:
• Do not administer to animals with bacterial diseases without concomitant antibiotic therapy, fungal or viral infections, renal and/or hepatic failure, congestive heart failure, osteoporosis and bone fractures, diabetes mellitus, ocular degenerative diseases or corneal ulcer, hyperadrenocorticism (Cushing's syndrome).
• Do not administer to animals undergoing immunological treatment.
• It is up to the veterinarian to establish an emergency therapy in the aforementioned cases that are contraindicated for its use.

Side effects:
• In the case of infections, the symptoms of the same can be masked, such as pyrexia, lassitude and loss of appetite.
• Decreases organic defenses predisposing the animal more easily to microbial infections.
• Causes delayed wound healing.
• It can cause weakness of the striated muscles.
• In dogs it can cause an increase in serum alkaline phosphatase (SAP) and serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase (SGPT) enzymes, weight loss, anorexia, diarrhea (sometimes bloody), vomiting, polydipsia and polyuria.
Euphoria and some changes in the animal's behavior with subsequent improvement in attitude have also been observed.
• In equines, a dose greater than 5 mg/animal can cause lethargy, which usually subsides after 24 hours. In some cases it can cause laminitis.

Route of administration:
Intramuscular, subcutaneous.

Posology:
Cattle and Horses: 0,2-0,8 ml/10 kg bw, in a single dose.
Dogs: 0,5-2 ml/10 kg bw, in a single dose.
• Repeat the dose if necessary after 10-14 days.
• Shake the suspension before administration.

Wait time:
Meat: 75 days.
Milk: Do not use.
• Do not administer to equines intended for human consumption.

Remarks:
With veterinary prescription.
