Composition per ml:
Diphenhydramine hydroxychloride 0,8 mg; ephedrine hydrochloride 2 mg; theophylline 4 mg;
dexamethasone (dexamethasone sodium phosphate)* 0,04 mg.
Excipients: methyl parahydroxybenzoate, sodium salt (E-219) 1,2 mg; parahydroxybenzoate
propyl, sodium salt (E-217) 0,5 mg; Other excipients csp 1 ml.
*(1 g dexamethasone sodium phosphate equals 760 mg dexamethasone base).
Indications and target species
Birds and ornamental birds: Symptomatic treatment of asthmatic-type respiratory processes
and as support therapy for the specific treatment of certain respiratory pathologies
infectious.
Contraindications
Although they have not been described in the target species, in general and taking into account the
components, its use is contraindicated in animals with cardiac disorders.
• Do not use in acute infectious processes not controlled by appropriate chemotherapy.
Route of administration
Oral route in drinking water.
Posology
Birds and ornamental birds:
• Dose per kg bw/day:
Diphenhydramine hydrochloride 0,6-1,2 mg; ephedrine hydrochloride 1,5-3,0 mg; theophylline 3,0-6,0 mg;
dexamethasone (sodium phosphate) 0,03-0,06 mg.
Which corresponds to 0,75-1,5 ml Tabernil® Antiasthmatic/kg bw
• Dose per animal/day (canary of 15 g bw)
Diphenhydramine hydrochloride 0,009-0,018 mg; ephedrine hydrochloride 0,0225-0,045 mg; theophylline
0,045-0,090mg; dexamethasone (sodium phosphate) 0,45-0,90 µg.
• Preparation of medicated water for canaries (15 grams bw):
10 ml of medicated water – add 2 drops to 10 ml of drinking water.
100 ml of medicated water – add 20 drops to 100 ml of drinking water.
• For other birds they must calculate the necessary quantities using the dose per kg bw/day.
Special precautions
• In case of infectious or parasitic diseases, a specific therapy should be established.
• Daily water consumption depends on the ambient temperature and other factors such as the state
physiology of the birds so the actual amount of water consumed can vary
considerably.
