- Pentobarbital and inhalation anesthetics, due to the risk of vascular depression.
- Muscle relaxants, due to the risk of neuromuscular blockade.
- Diuretics, due to the risk of increasing ototoxicity.
Indications
Infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to benzylpenicillin and dihydrostreptomycin and presenting with acute inflammation:
Cattle: Treatment of respiratory infections caused by Pasteurella multocida.
Pigs: Treatment of respiratory infections caused by Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae and/or Pasteurella multocida; meningitis caused by Stretococcus suis, Listeria

- Animals subjected to immunological treatment.
Adverse reactions
- Penicillins can cause allergic or anaphylactic reactions in hypersensitive animals, particularly cattle, causing salivation, fever, vomiting, dyspnea, incoordination, tremors, and skin reactions such as angioedema and urticaria. In severe cases, treatment should be stopped and emergency treatment applied (epinephrine and/or corticosteroids).
- Aminoglycosides can cause nephrotoxicity, ototoxicity, and neuromuscular blockade in all species.
- Dexamethasone can mask the signs of infection (pyrexia, loss of appetite, etc.).
- Decreases organic defenses and delays wound healing.
- Procaine, administered intramuscularly, can produce a mild excitatory reaction.
- Intravenously it can cause changes in behavior and locomotion and/or vascular changes. In none of these cases were the adverse reactions serious.
- This drug may also cause mild transient local reactions at the injection site.
- In piglets and fattening pigs, occasionally and in stressful situations, transient fever, vomiting, incoordination, tremors and apathy can occur.
Route of administration
Deep intramuscular.
