ZODON is a bacteriostatic antibiotic from the lincosamide group. It acts in vitro against aerobic Gram-positive cocci, anaerobic Gram-negative bacilli, and clostridia. After oral administration, it is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract.
Indicated for dogs: treatment of infected wounds, abscesses, dental and oral cavity infections caused by or associated with Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp. (except Streptococcus faecalis), Bacteroides spp., F. necrophorum, and C. perfringens. Also treats superficial pyoderma associated with Staphylococcus pseudintermedius and osteomyelitis caused by S. aureus.
If no clinical response is seen in 4 days, reconsider the diagnosis. For superficial pyoderma, maintain treatment for 21 days. For osteomyelitis, give 11 mg/kg every 12 hours for at least 28 days. If no response in 14 days, stop treatment and reconsider diagnosis.
Each tablet contains clindamycin (as hydrochloride) 264 mg.
