VIRBAMINTHE 25ML is a veterinary oral paste indicated for the treatment of ascarid infestations caused by Toxocara canis, Toxocara cati, and Toxascaris leonina in dogs and cats. It also treats hookworms (Ancylostoma caninum, Ancylostoma braziliense, Ancylostoma tubaeforme, Uncinaria stenocephala) and cestodes (Dipylidium caninum and Taenia spp.). Dogs can be treated from two weeks of age, cats from three weeks of age.
The product contains two active substances: oxibendazole (30 mg/ml) and niclosamide (240 mg/ml). Oxibendazole is a benzimidazole that disrupts parasite energy metabolism, while niclosamide inhibits mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation in cestodes. The combination provides broad-spectrum efficacy against nematodes and cestodes in a single oral dose.
At the prescribed dose of 15 mg oxibendazole and 120 mg niclosamide per kg body weight (0.5 ml/kg), the product shows no significant side effects. Some animals may experience transient diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting, which resolves spontaneously or upon treatment discontinuation. No special precautions are needed for use, but individuals with known hypersensitivity should avoid contact.
