VIRBAMEC PORCINO 500 ML is an endectocide antiparasitic solution for injection in pigs. It treats gastrointestinal roundworms (Ascaris suum, Hyostrongylus rubidus, Oesophagostomum spp., Strongyloides ransoni), lungworms (Metastrongylus spp.), lice (Haematopinus suis), and mites (Sarcoptes scabiei var. suis). It also treats Trichuris suis adults.
Ivermectin blocks nerve impulse transmission by stimulating GABA release at presynaptic nerve endings in nematodes and at neuromuscular junctions in arthropods. This causes paralysis and death of the parasites.
When administered to sows 7 to 14 days before farrowing, it effectively controls transmission of Strongyloides ransoni to piglets via milk. Transient pain or swelling at the injection site may occur but resolves without treatment.
Each ml contains 10 mg of ivermectin.
For the treatment and control of gastrointestinal roundworms (adults and L4), lungworms (adults), lice, and mites in pigs. Also indicated for Trichuris suis (adults).
Administer 1.5 ml per 50 kg body weight (0.3 mg ivermectin per kg). Give one subcutaneous injection, preferably in the loose skin at the base of the ear. Treatment may be repeated at intervals of at least 21 days.
