VIRBAMEC is an endectocide injectable solution for cattle. It treats and controls gastrointestinal roundworms (adults and L4 stages) including Ostertagia spp., Haemonchus placei, Trichostrongylus spp., Cooperia spp., and Nematodirus spp. It also targets lungworms (Dictyocaulus viviparus), grubs (Hypoderma spp.), sucking lice (Linognathus vituli, Haematopinus eurysternus), and mites (Psoroptes communis var. bovis, Sarcoptes scabiei var. bovis).
The active ingredient ivermectin belongs to the avermectin family. It blocks nerve impulse transmission and stimulates GABA release at presynaptic nerve endings in nematodes or at neuromuscular junctions in arthropods. This causes paralysis and death of the parasites.
Each ml contains 10 mg ivermectin. The recommended dose is 1 ml per 50 kg body weight (0.2 mg/kg) given as a single subcutaneous injection. Withdrawal time for meat is 42 days. Do not use in animals producing milk for human consumption or in dry dairy cows within 60 days before calving.
