VETPRIL 5MG contains benazepril, an ACE inhibitor, for dogs with congestive heart failure weighing over 5 kg and cats with chronic kidney disease to reduce proteinuria. In double blind clinical trials in dogs with congestive heart failure, benazepril was well tolerated with a lower incidence of adverse reactions than placebo. A small number of dogs may experience transient vomiting, lack of coordination, or signs of fatigue.
Each divisible film coated tablet contains 4.6 mg benazepril (equivalent to 5 mg benazepril hydrochloride). Excipients include titanium dioxide (E171) 1.929 mg, yellow iron oxide (E172) 0.117 mg, red iron oxide (E172) 0.014 mg, and black iron oxide (E172) 0.004 mg.
