Reduces proteinuria in cats with chronic kidney disease and treats congestive heart failure in dogs over 5 kg.
VETPRIL 5MG 14 COMPRIMIDOS treats congestive heart failure in dogs weighing over 5 kg and reduces proteinuria associated with chronic kidney disease in cats. The active substance benazepril is an angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor that helps relax blood vessels and reduce cardiac workload.
In double blind clinical trials in dogs with congestive heart failure, benazepril was well tolerated with a lower incidence of adverse reactions compared to placebo. A small number of dogs may experience transient vomiting, lack of coordination, or signs of fatigue.
No evidence of renal toxicity was observed during clinical trials in dogs or cats. However, routine monitoring of plasma creatinine, urea, and erythrocyte count is recommended during treatment for chronic kidney disease.
Each divisible film coated tablet contains 4.6 mg benazepril (equivalent to 5 mg benazepril hydrochloride). Excipients include titanium dioxide (E171) 1.929 mg, yellow iron oxide (E172) 0.117 mg, red iron oxide (E172) 0.014 mg, and black iron oxide (E172) 0.004 mg.
Dogs: Treatment of congestive heart failure in dogs weighing more than 5 kg. Cats: Reduction of proteinuria associated with chronic kidney disease.
