VERMIVET 5L is an internal antiparasitic from the tetrahydroimidazothiazole group. It contains the levo isomer of tetramisol. It treats gastrointestinal and pulmonary nematodes in adult and larval forms in cattle, pigs, sheep, and poultry.
The active substance levamisole hydrochloride acts as a ganglion stimulant. It causes sustained muscle contraction followed by relaxation, leading to paralysis of the nematode. At high concentrations it may inhibit the enzyme fumarate reductase, but its main effect is parasite paralysis and elimination from the host.
VERMIVET 5L is active against Dictyocaulus spp., Protostrongylus spp., Trichostrongylus spp., Cooperia spp., Ostertagia spp. (except inhibited larvae), Haemonchus spp., Nematodirus spp., Bunostomum spp., Oesophagostomum spp., and Chabertia spp.
Each ml contains levamisole hydrochloride 30 mg.
VERMIVET 5L treats gastrointestinal and lung nematodes in adult and larval forms in cattle, pigs, sheep, and poultry.
Poultry: 7.5-10 ml per 10 kg body weight in drinking water for one day. Pigs: 3 ml per 10 kg body weight as a single dose. For pigs over 150 kg, give 14 ml per additional 50 kg. Sheep: 3 ml per 10 kg body weight as a single dose, maximum 17.5 ml per animal. Cattle: 3 ml per 10 kg body weight as a single dose, maximum 88 ml per animal. Do not exceed recommended doses.
