Reduces furosemide dose when used together for heart failure in dogs.
VASOTOP PALATABLE 2.5 mg tablets contain the ACE inhibitor ramipril for dogs with congestive heart failure (NYHA classes II, III, IV) caused by chronic degenerative valvular disease or cardiomyopathy. It can be used with or without furosemide and cardiac glycosides like digoxin.
Ramipril inhibits the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, reducing vasoconstriction and fluid retention. This lowers cardiac workload and improves clinical signs such as fatigue, shortness of breath, and cough.
When combined with furosemide, Vasotop allows a lower diuretic dose to achieve the same effect. Clinical response includes improved exercise tolerance and reduced signs of decompensation.
Active substance: Ramipril 2.5 mg per tablet. Excipients include yellow iron oxide (E 172) 0.5 mg.
Treatment of congestive heart failure in dogs (NYHA classes II, III, IV) due to chronic degenerative valvular disease or cardiomyopathy. May be used with furosemide and/or digoxin or methyldigoxin.
