Butorphanol is a totally synthetic narcotic with agonist-antagonist action on the central nervous system. It also has potent antitussive properties. The drug is metabolized in the liver and eliminated from blood within 3 to 4 hours. Excretion occurs via urine.
The product provides effective analgesia for equine colic. It is administered intravenously at a dose of 1 mL per 100 kg body weight. No withdrawal period is required for horses treated with this product.
