Combines amoxicillin and clavulanic acid to overcome beta-lactamase resistant bacteria.
Synulox 250mg tablets treat infections in dogs and cats caused by sensitive bacteria. These infections include those of the digestive tract, respiratory tract, urogenital tract, skin, and soft tissues. It also addresses bacterial complications in diseases requiring antibiotic therapy.
The product combines amoxicillin (a semisynthetic penicillin) and clavulanic acid. Amoxicillin inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by blocking transpeptidase and carboxypeptidase enzymes, causing osmotic destruction of growing bacteria. Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that irreversibly binds to bacterial enzymes, protecting amoxicillin from degradation and expanding its spectrum of activity.
Each tablet contains 200 mg amoxicillin (as trihydrate) and 50 mg clavulanic acid (as potassium clavulanate). The recommended dose for medium dogs is 12.5 mg per kg body weight twice daily, equivalent to 1.5 tablets per 30 kg per dose. Treatment should not exceed 5 to 7 days.
