STRONGHOLD GATO PLUS is a topical antiparasitic solution for cats. It treats and prevents mixed infestations of fleas (Ctenocephalides spp.), ticks (Ixodes ricinus, Ixodes hexagonus, Dermacentor reticulatus, Rhipicephalus sanguineus), ear mites (Otodectes cynotis), biting lice (Felicola subrostratus), adult roundworms (Toxocara cati), and adult hookworms (Ancylostoma tubaeforme). It also prevents heartworm disease caused by Dirofilaria immitis with monthly use.
The product combines selamectin and sarolaner. Selamectin targets nematodes and arthropods. Sarolaner is an acaricide and insecticide. Ticks must attach and feed to be exposed to sarolaner. The product kills adult fleas before they lay eggs for 5 weeks and has ovicidal and larvicidal activity to help control environmental flea infestations.
Efficacy data shows immediate and persistent flea and tick activity for 5 weeks against Ixodes ricinus and Ixodes hexagonus, and 4 weeks against Dermacentor reticulatus and Rhipicephalus sanguineus. It can be used as part of a treatment strategy for flea allergy dermatitis (FAD).
Each 0.5 ml pipette contains 30 mg selamectin and 5 mg sarolaner.
