In dogs, SPORIMUNE is indicated for chronic atopic dermatitis. In cats, it treats symptomatic chronic allergic dermatitis. Clinical signs like pruritus and skin inflammation are not specific to this disease. Additional causes such as ectoparasites, food allergies, or infections should be evaluated and eliminated when possible.
Efficacy data from clinical trials in cats show very frequent gastrointestinal upset (vomiting, diarrhea) which is usually moderate and transient. Frequent side effects include lethargy, anorexia, hypersalivation, weight loss, and lymphocytopenia. These resolve spontaneously after treatment stops or dose frequency decreases.
