SPORIMUNE is a ciclosporin oral solution indicated for the treatment of chronic manifestations of atopic dermatitis in dogs. It also provides symptomatic treatment for chronic allergic dermatitis in cats. Ciclosporin works by modulating the immune response to reduce pruritus and skin inflammation.
Clinical data from studies show that adverse reactions are uncommon in dogs. The most frequently observed side effects are mild and transient gastrointestinal issues such as vomiting, soft stools, and diarrhea. These usually do not require treatment discontinuation.
In cats, clinical trials with 98 cats treated with ciclosporin showed very common gastrointestinal discomfort including vomiting and diarrhea, which are typically moderate and transient. Common reactions include lethargy, anorexia, hypersalivation, weight loss, and lymphocytopenia, which resolve spontaneously after dose reduction or treatment cessation.
