SCALIBOR Collar is an external antiparasitic collar for dogs. It contains the active substance deltamethrin at 40 mg/g. The collar provides a repellent (anti-feeding) effect against sand flies (Phlebotomus perniciosus) for 12 months and against culicid mosquitoes of the Culex pipiens complex for 6 months. It also prevents tick infestations for 6 months and flea infestations for 4 months.
The repellent effect against Phlebotomus perniciosus reduces the risk of Leishmania infantum transmission. SCALIBOR Collar can be used as part of a program to prevent Leishmania infantum infection. The collar becomes effective one week after placement.
Occasional water contact does not reduce efficacy during the first 6 months. Efficacy during water contact from 6 to 12 months has not been demonstrated. The effect of shampoo baths has not been evaluated.
