RONAXAN is a broad spectrum antibacterial containing doxycycline. It treats infections caused by sensitive germs including Streptococcus, Staphylococcus, Corynebacterium, Pasteurella, Bordetella, Acinetobacter, Mycoplasma, Bacteroides, Clostridium perfringens, Ehrlichia, and Chlamydia. These infections primarily affect the respiratory tract, skin, urinary tract, and genital tract.
Doxycycline works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, stopping the growth of susceptible bacteria. The tablet is administered orally, ideally with food.
For acute cases, treat for 3 to 5 days. For chronic cases, treat for 8 to 10 days. The dosage is 10 mg doxycycline per kg body weight once daily, equivalent to 1 tablet of RONAXAN 20 per 2 kg body weight per day.
