For skin infections, it targets common pathogens responsible for pyoderma and other bacterial dermatoses. For urinary tract infections, it eliminates susceptible bacteria in the bladder and urethra. Treatment should be based on bacteriological diagnosis and sensitivity testing when possible.
Efficacy depends on proper dosing and completing the full course. Use in conditions other than described may increase bacterial resistance to cephalexin and reduce effectiveness of other cephalosporins and penicillins due to cross resistance.
