RILEXINE MASTICABLE 600MG treats bacterial infections of the skin and urinary tract in dogs. It contains cephalexin, a first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that kills susceptible bacteria by disrupting cell wall synthesis. Clinical efficacy is confirmed for infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to cephalexin.
Cephalexin is primarily excreted by the kidneys. In dogs with known renal impairment, accumulation may occur, requiring dose reduction and avoidance of nephrotoxic antibiotics. Use only after bacteriological diagnosis and sensitivity testing when possible.
Misuse may increase the prevalence of cephalexin-resistant bacteria and reduce efficacy of other cephalosporins and penicillins due to cross-resistance. Not for use in rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, or gerbils.
