The active ingredient cephalexin is a first generation cephalosporin antibiotic that works by interfering with bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death.
For skin infections, it targets common canine pathogens. For urinary infections, it acts against susceptible bacteria in the urinary tract. Use only after bacteriological confirmation and sensitivity testing when possible.
Efficacy depends on proper dosing and completing the full course. Resistance may develop if used outside labeled instructions. Do not use in animals with severe kidney failure or known hypersensitivity to cephalosporins or other beta lactams.
