RETARDO ESTEROIDE treats inflammatory processes and allergic conditions in horses, dogs, and cats. It is indicated for inflammations caused by infections, allergies, trauma, or other etiologies.
The active ingredient is triamcinolone acetonide, a synthetic glucocorticoid derived from cortisol. It has five times the anti-inflammatory activity of cortisol and minimal mineralocorticoid activity.
Efficacy data from the description: a single dose provides remission. In horses, doses above 5 mg per animal may cause lethargy that usually resolves within 24 hours. Intra-articular administration may cause pain and local symptoms until the result is achieved.

Shake before use. Horses: IM or SC 0.10 to 0.20 ml per 10 kg body weight in a single dose (usual maximum 6 to 10 ml per animal). IA or intrasynovial (arthritis) 3 to 9 ml per animal in a single dose; repeat after 3 to 4 days if needed. Dogs and cats: IM or SC 0.50 to 1 ml per 10 kg body weight in a single dose. Remission is usually achieved with a single dose.
