PREVENDER collar treats external parasitosis in dogs caused by fleas of the species Ctenocephalides canis and Ctenocephalides felis. It also prevents infestations produced by ticks of the species Rhipicephalus sanguineus, Dermacentor variabilis, and Otobius megnini.
The active ingredient is diazinon, an organophosphate insecticide that acts by inhibiting cholinesterase, leading to irreversible poisoning of the parasite. Due to its lipophilic nature, it releases progressively over time and diffuses rapidly through the animal's skin fat layer, acting against fleas within a few hours of placement.
