PREDNISOLONA FATRO 25 MG/ML 10 ml is a synthetic glucocorticoid and anti-inflammatory corticosteroid for injection. It treats inflammatory conditions in cattle, horses (not for human consumption), dogs, and cats. The drug stabilizes lysosomal membranes, inhibits phospholipase enzyme activity, and reduces release of arachidonic acid and prostaglandin E2, key mediators of inflammation.
The mechanism of action includes gluconeogenic effects that increase blood glucose and liver glycogen. It promotes sodium retention, hypocalemia, and metabolic alkalosis, which can lead to edema formation. It also inhibits collagen and fibroblast proliferation, capillary growth, neutrophil phagocytosis, histamine release from mast cells, and depresses the reticuloendothelial system and antibody formation.
In the cardiovascular system, it improves shock states by stabilizing membranes and preventing release of lysosomal hydrolases and myocardial depressant factors. In the musculoskeletal system, it causes loss of potassium, calcium, phosphorus, and nitrogen, leading to muscle weakness and increased osteoporosis risk. Intramuscular absorption is 85%, with 90% reversibly bound to plasma proteins. Plasma half-life is 18-36 hours. Metabolism occurs mainly in the liver and kidneys, with excretion via bile and urine.
Active ingredient: Prednisolone sodium phosphate 33.75 mg per ml (equivalent to Prednisolone base 25.0 mg). Excipients: Benzyl alcohol 9.0 mg, methyl parahydroxybenzoate 1.8 mg, propyl parahydroxybenzoate 0.2 mg, disodium edetate 0.5 mg, sodium hydroxide q.s., water for injection q.s. to 1.0 ml.
