Treats respiratory infections, metritis, mastitis, and necrobacillosis in livestock.
PHARMASIN is an injectable solution containing tylosin at 200 mg/ml. It treats infections caused by microorganisms susceptible to tylosin in cattle, sheep, goats, and pigs. Indications include respiratory infections, metritis caused by Gram positive bacteria, mastitis caused by Streptococcus spp., Staphylococcus spp., or Mycoplasma, and interdigital necrobacillosis in adult cattle. In calves it treats respiratory infections and necrobacillosis. In pigs it treats enzootic pneumonia, hemorrhagic enteritis, erysipelas, uterine inflammation, and arthritis caused by Mycoplasma and Staphylococcus spp. In sheep and goats it treats respiratory infections, metritis caused by Gram positive bacteria, and mastitis caused by Gram positive bacteria or Mycoplasma spp.
Tylosin is a macrolide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis, leading to bacteriostatic effects against susceptible Gram positive bacteria and Mycoplasma. The product is a pale yellow to amber liquid solution for intramuscular injection.
Due to possible variability in bacterial susceptibility, bacteriological sampling and sensitivity testing are recommended. Using the product differently than indicated may increase resistance to tylosin and reduce efficacy of other macrolide antibiotics due to cross resistance. Use different injection sites for repeated doses.
Active ingredient: Tylosin 200 mg/ml (200,000 IU/ml). Excipients: Benzyl alcohol (E1519) 40 mg/ml.
