ORBENIN EXTRA is an antibacterial intramammary suspension indicated for the treatment of bovine mastitis at dry off. It contains cloxacillin benzathine, active against Gram positive bacteria causing mastitis: Staphylococcus spp. (penicillin sensitive or resistant, beta lactamase producers), Streptococcus agalactiae, Streptococcus dysgalactiae, Streptococcus uberis, and Corynebacterium spp.
Cloxacillin works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death. Its activity and persistence ensure treatment of subclinical and residual infections at drying off, reducing the incidence of new infections during the dry period and the risk of new infections at calving.
Compatibility with bismuth subnitrate based internal teat sealants for the dry period has been demonstrated. Administer one syringe into each quarter after the last milking. Do not milk again until after calving.
