MODULIS Oral Solution is indicated for the treatment of clinical manifestations of atopic dermatitis in dogs. The active substance, cyclosporine, acts as a selective immunosuppressant that specifically and reversibly targets T lymphocytes.
Cyclosporine inhibits T lymphocyte activation during antigenic stimulation by reducing the production of IL-2 and other T cell derived cytokines. It also inhibits antigen presenting function in the skin, blocks eosinophil uptake and activation, reduces keratinocyte cytokine production, impairs Langerhans cell function, and prevents mast cell degranulation and release of histamines and proinflammatory cytokines.
Cyclosporine does not reduce hematopoiesis and has no effect on phagocytic cell function. Adverse reactions are uncommon; the most frequent are mild and transient gastrointestinal disorders such as vomiting, mucoid or soft stools, and diarrhea, which usually do not require treatment discontinuation.
Each ml contains cyclosporine 100 mg and excipient all rac alpha tocopherol (E 307) 1 mg.
Dogs: Treatment of clinical manifestations of atopic dermatitis. Do not use in dogs under 6 months of age or weighing less than 2 kg. Do not use in dogs with a history of malignant disorders or progressive malignant disorders.
