MILBEMAX is a chewable tablet for small dogs and puppies weighing 1 to 5 kg. It treats mixed infections caused by adult cestodes (tapeworms) and nematodes (roundworms). The active ingredients are milbemycin oxime and praziquantel.
Milbemycin oxime works by interfering with neurotransmission in nematodes, causing paralysis and death. Praziquantel increases cell membrane permeability in cestodes, leading to rapid contraction and detachment from the intestinal wall. This dual mechanism provides broad spectrum efficacy against common intestinal parasites.
Clinical studies show MILBEMAX reduces infection levels of species such as Dipylidium caninum, Taenia spp., Echinococcus spp., Ancylostoma caninum, Toxocara canis, and Angiostrongylus vasorum. It also prevents heartworm disease (Dirofilaria immitis) when concurrent cestode treatment is indicated.
Each chewable tablet contains 2.5 mg milbemycin oxime and 25.0 mg praziquantel as active substances.
