MARBOCYL PALATABLE 80MG tablets contain marbofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic. It is indicated for treating skin infections (intertrigo, folliculitis, impetigo, furunculosis), soft tissue infections, urinary tract infections (upper and lower, with or without prostatitis or epididymitis), and respiratory tract infections in dogs. All indications require the infection to be caused by strains sensitive to marbofloxacin.
The recommended dose is 2 mg per kg of body weight once daily. Treatment duration varies by condition: at least 5 days for skin and soft tissue infections (up to 40 days), 10 to 20 days for superficial and severe pyoderma respectively (up to 40 days), at least 10 days for lower urinary tract infections (up to 28 days if prostatitis, epididymitis, or upper tract infection), and at least 7 days for respiratory infections (up to 21 days).
Overdose may cause salivation, vomiting, weight loss, and decreased activity. Very high doses (≥2000 mg/kg) can cause acute neurological signs. No special precautions or withdrawal period apply. The product requires veterinary prescription.
