MARBOCYL PALATABLE 80MG tablets contain marbofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic for dogs. It treats infections of the skin (intertrigo, folliculitis, impetigo, furunculosis), soft tissues, upper and lower urinary tract (with or without prostatitis or epididymitis), and respiratory tract caused by sensitive bacterial strains.
Marbofloxacin works by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, leading to bacterial cell death. It is administered orally at 2 mg/kg once daily. Treatment duration ranges from 5 days for skin infections up to 40 days for pyoderma, and from 10 to 28 days for urinary tract infections depending on severity.
At the recommended therapeutic dose, no serious adverse reactions are expected. Mild side effects such as vomiting, diarrhea, polydipsia, polyuria, and hyperactivity may occur occasionally but resolve spontaneously after treatment.
