LOXICOM is a nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drug (NSAID) belonging to the oxicam group. Its active ingredient, meloxicam, works by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis, thereby reducing inflammation, pain, and fever. It is indicated for dogs and cats to manage postoperative pain and musculoskeletal disorders.
In dogs, LOXICOM provides relief from acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain and inflammation. It is also used for postoperative pain management after orthopedic or soft tissue surgery. In cats, it is indicated for postoperative pain control.
The recommended dose for dogs with musculoskeletal disorders is 0.2 mg/kg (0.4 ml/10 kg) administered subcutaneously. For postoperative pain in dogs, the same dose is given intravenously or subcutaneously. In cats, the dose is 0.3 mg/kg (0.06 ml/kg) subcutaneously. A single injection provides approximately 24 hours of effect.
