Meloxicam suspension for continued anti-inflammatory and analgesic treatment after initial injection.
LOXICOM is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) from the oxicam family. Its active ingredient, meloxicam, relieves inflammation and pain in dogs and cats. It is used for musculoskeletal disorders and postoperative pain management.
Meloxicam works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes, reducing prostaglandin synthesis. This provides analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic effects. The injectable form offers rapid onset of action.
In dogs, treatment can continue with LOXICOM oral suspension 24 hours after the initial injection for prolonged therapy. Efficacy data from clinical use supports its safety and effectiveness for the labeled indications.
Active ingredient: Meloxicam 1.5 mg per 100 mL.
For dogs: relief of pain and inflammation in acute and chronic musculoskeletal disorders, and management of postoperative pain. For cats: management of postoperative pain after orthopedic or soft tissue surgery.
Dogs: 0.2 mg/kg (0.4 mL/10 kg) subcutaneously or intravenously for postoperative pain; subcutaneously for musculoskeletal disorders. Cats: 0.3 mg/kg (0.06 mL/kg) subcutaneously for postoperative pain. In dogs, oral suspension can be continued 24 hours after injection.
