IVERTOTAL 10 mg/ml injectable solution contains ivermectin, a broad-spectrum antiparasitic active against nematodes, arthropods, and ectoparasites. It is indicated for the treatment of gastrointestinal nematodes, lung nematodes, eye nematodes, warbles (Hypoderma spp.), mites, and sucking lice in cattle. In sheep, it treats psoroptic mange, gastrointestinal and lung nematodes, and nasal bot (Oestrus ovis). In pigs, it targets gastrointestinal nematodes, lung nematodes, lice, and mange mites.
Ivermectin works by binding to glutamate-gated chloride channels in nerve and muscle cells of parasites, causing increased chloride ion influx, hyperpolarization, paralysis, and death. The product is administered by subcutaneous or intramuscular injection at the recommended dose. For cattle, the recommended dose prevents reinfestation by Haemonchus placei, Cooperia oncophora, Cooperia pectinata, and Trichostrongylus axei for 7 days after treatment; Ostertagia ostertagi and Oesophagostomum radiatum for 14 days; and Dictyocaulus viviparus for 21 days.
