Reduces pulmonary edema and clinical signs of heart failure in dogs.
ISEMID is indicated for the treatment of clinical signs related to congestive heart failure in dogs, including pulmonary edema. It contains torasemide, a loop diuretic of the pyridine-3-sulfonylurea class, also known as high-ceiling diuretics. Torasemide has a chemical structure between loop diuretics like furosemide and chloride channel blockers.
Torasemide acts on the loop of Henle in the kidney to produce a potent diuretic effect, reducing fluid overload and edema. The product is available in divisible, chewable tablets for easy administration. Clinical data show very frequent observations of renal insufficiency, increased renal blood parameters, hemoconcentration, and electrolyte disturbances.
Frequent side effects include episodic gastrointestinal symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea, dehydration, polyuria, polydipsia, urinary incontinence, anorexia, weight loss, and lethargy. The product is manufactured by CEVA SALUD ANIMAL and is available in three strengths based on dog weight.
Each tablet contains torasemide as the active ingredient. The 4 mg tablet is for dogs weighing over 23 kg up to 60 kg.
