Broad spectrum fluoroquinolone for respiratory and gastrointestinal infections in livestock and dogs.
GANADEXIL ENRO 5% is an injectable antibiotic solution containing enrofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone with bactericidal activity. It treats infections of the respiratory tract, gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, and skin in cattle, pigs, and dogs. The product is indicated for bronchopneumonia, pasteurellosis, mycoplasmosis, colibacillosis, diarrhea, enterotoxemia, and MMA syndrome.
Enrofloxacin works by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II), preventing negative axial rotation of DNA and causing bacterial cell death. It is active against Gram negative and many Gram positive bacteria, both aerobic and anaerobic, including Staphylococcus spp., Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Pasteurella spp., and Mycoplasma spp.
In cattle, intramuscular administration of 5 mg/kg produces a peak concentration of 1 µg/ml maintained for over 6 hours. The volume of distribution is 0.6 L/kg, plasma elimination half life is 2 hours, and clearance is 210 ml/kg/h.
Each ml contains enrofloxacin 50 mg and benzyl alcohol 10 mg.
Cattle (calves): respiratory tract infections (bronchopneumonia, pasteurellosis, mycoplasmosis) and gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea caused by colibacilli, colibacillosis, colisepticemia). Pigs: treatment of diarrhea in piglets, diarrhea and enterotoxemia caused by E. coli and Salmonella spp., and MMA syndrome. Dogs: treatment of respiratory, digestive, urinary tract, and skin infections caused by enrofloxacin sensitive microorganisms.
