Broad-spectrum bactericidal action against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria.
GANADEXIL ENRO 5% is an injectable antibiotic solution containing enrofloxacin 50 mg per mL. It is indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract infections such as bronchopneumonia, pasteurellosis, and mycoplasmosis in calves, as well as gastrointestinal infections including colibacillosis and colisepticemia. In pigs, it treats diarrhea and enterotoxemia caused by E. coli and Salmonella spp., and the MMA syndrome. In dogs, it is used for infections of the respiratory and digestive organs, urinary tract, and skin caused by enrofloxacin-sensitive microorganisms.
Enrofloxacin belongs to the fluoroquinolone class of antibiotics. It exerts bactericidal activity by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II), preventing negative axial rotation of the DNA molecule. It acts at low concentrations against most Gram-negative and many Gram-positive bacteria, both aerobic and anaerobic. The antibacterial spectrum includes Staphylococcus spp., Bordetella bronchiseptica, Escherichia coli, Enterobacter spp., Proteus spp., Salmonella spp., Pseudomonas spp., Streptococcus spp., Pasteurella spp., Mycoplasma spp., Enterococcus spp., and Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae.
In cattle, after intramuscular administration of 5 mg/kg, a maximum concentration of 1 µg/mL is observed and maintained for over 6 hours. The volume of distribution is 0.6 L/kg, plasma elimination half-life is 2 hours, and clearance is 210 mL/kg/h. The product should only be used when bacteria are resistant to other antibiotics, and bacteriological confirmation and sensitivity testing should precede use. If no improvement is seen within three days, a change in therapy may be indicated.
Each mL contains enrofloxacin 50 mg and benzyl alcohol 10 mg.
In calves: respiratory tract infections (bronchopneumonia, pasteurellosis, mycoplasmosis) and gastrointestinal infections (diarrhea due to colibacilli, colibacillosis, colisepticemia). In pigs: treatment of diarrhea in piglets, diarrhea and enterotoxemia caused by E. coli and Salmonella spp., and MMA syndrome. In dogs: infections of the respiratory and digestive organs, urinary tract, and skin caused by enrofloxacin-sensitive microorganisms.
