It treats verminosis caused by gastrointestinal nematodes, pulmonary nematodes, cestodes (tapeworms), and liver trematodes. The product is effective against adult, larval, and egg stages of targeted parasites.
Albendazole works by interfering with nutrient uptake in helminths. In some parasites, it also inhibits tubular protein synthesis. This dual mechanism provides broad spectrum activity against parasites with diverse locations in the host.
The antiparasitic spectrum includes Haemonchus contortus, Ostertagia species, Trichostrongylus species, Cooperia curticei, Nematodirus filicollis, Chabertia ovina, Oesophagostomum venulosum, Dictyocaulus filaria, Moniezia species, and Fasciola hepatica (adult forms).
