Effective against all stages including eggs of major equine nematodes.
EQ VERM JERINGA 30GR is an oral paste antiparasitic for horses and ponies. It treats gastrointestinal nematodes such as Strongylus vulgaris, S. edentatus, S. equinus, Oxyuris equi, Parascaris equorum, Strongyloides westeri, and multiple cyathostome species. It also targets the lung nematode Dictyocaulus filaria.
The active ingredient oxibendazole belongs to the benzimidazole group. It acts by interfering with nutrient uptake and inhibiting the enzyme fumarate reductase, leading to glycogen depletion and parasite death by starvation. Its low solubility results in minimal absorption after oral administration, with plasma levels never exceeding 1% of the dose and peak concentrations occurring between 6 and 30 hours depending on the species.
Oxibendazole is active against all life stages including eggs. It is indicated for the treatment of gastrointestinal and pulmonary nematodiasis in equids.
Each 30 g syringe contains 6 g of oxibendazole as the active ingredient, plus excipients and preservatives.
For horses and ponies: treatment of gastrointestinal nematodiasis caused by Strongylus vulgaris, S. edentatus, S. equinus, Oxyuris equi, Parascaris equorum, Strongyloides westeri, Cylicostephanus, Cylicocyclus, Cyathostomum, Triodontophorus, Cylicodontophorus, Gyalocephalus, and Probstmayria. Also treats pulmonary nematodiasis caused by Dictyocaulus filaria.
10 mg oxibendazole per kg body weight in a single dose (equivalent to 6 ml of EQ-Verm per 100 kg). For Strongyloides: 15 mg oxibendazole per kg body weight in a single dose (equivalent to 9 ml per 100 kg). Foals: administer from 6 weeks of age at 4-6 week intervals. Adult horses and ponies: treat every 6-8 weeks. Lactating mares: treat 24-48 hours before foaling and every 6 weeks until autumn. New arrivals: dose upon arrival and keep off pasture for at least 8 hours.
