Special precautions
Clinical signs of atopic dermatitis in dogs and allergic dermatitis in cats, such as itching and skin inflammation, are not specific to this disease. Allergic dermatitis in cats can present with different manifestations, including eosinophilic plaques, excoriation on the head and neck, symmetrical alopecia, and miliary dermatitis.
Any additional causes of dermatitis, such as ectoparasitic infestations, other allergies causing dermatological problems (eg, flea-bite allergy dermatitis or food allergy), or bacterial and fungal infections.
It is recommended to address flea infestations before and during the treatment of atopic dermatitis and allergic dermatitis.
A complete clinical examination should be done before administering the treatment.
Infections must be properly treated before starting treatment.
Unless serious, infections that develop during treatment should not be grounds for withdrawal of the drug.
Special attention should be paid to vaccination. The use of this veterinary medicinal product could affect the effectiveness of the vaccines. As regards inactivated vaccines, vaccination is not recommended during treatment or within two weeks before or after administration of the drug. Concomitant use of other immunosuppressants is not recommended for live vaccines.
