Composition by tablet:
One small dog tablet contains 15 mg praziquantel and 3 mg emodepside.
One medium dog tablet contains 50 mg praziquantel and 10 mg emodepside.
One large dog tablet contains 150 mg praziquantel and 30 mg emodepside.

Pharmacological properties
Emodepside acts at the neuromuscular junction by stimulating presynaptic receptors.
belonging to the family of secretin receptors, which causes the paralysis and death of the parasites.
Praziquantel is rapidly absorbed from the surface of parasites and works by producing a change in the Ca2 permeability of parasite membranes, causing severe damage to the parasite integument, contraction and paralysis, disruption of metabolism, and ultimately leading to to the death of the parasite.

Interactions and incompatibilities
Combination treatment with other P-glycoprotein substrate/inhibitor drugs could lead to pharmacokinetic interactions. The possible clinical consequences have not been investigated.

Indications and target species
Dogs: For dogs suffering from, or at risk of suffering from, mixed parasitic infestations caused by nematodes: Toxocara canis (mature adult, immature adult, L4 and L3), Toxascaris leonina
(mature adult, immature adult and L4) and Ancylostoma caninum (mature and immature adult),
Uncinaria stenocephala (mature and immature adult) and Trichuris vulpis (mature, immature and
L4) and caused by cestodes: Dipylidium caninum, Taenia spp. Echinococcus multilocularis (adult
mature and immature) and Echinococcus granulosus (mature and immature adult).

Contraindications
• Do not use in puppies less than 12 weeks old or weighing less than 1 kg.
• Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the active substances or any of the excipients.

efectos secundarios
• On very rare occasions, mild and transient digestive tract disorders (hypersalivation, vomiting) were observed.
• On very rare occasions, mild and transient neurological disturbances (tremor, incoordination) were observed. It seems that not respecting fasting influences the appearance of these cases. On the other hand, signs of neurological disorders may be more severe (seizures) in collies, Shetland shepherds and mdr1 mutant Australian shepherds ( / ).
• No specific antidote known.

Route of administration
Orally.

Posology
1 tablet of Profender for small dogs for every 3 kg of weight.
1 tablet of Profender for medium dogs for every 10 kg of weight.
1 tablet of Profender for large dogs for every 30 kg of weight.
• A single dose per treatment is effective.
• Administer only on an empty stomach. For example, it is recommended not to feed the dog during the night if it is intended to treat the following morning. Do not provide food until 4 hours after treatment.
• It can be used during gestation and lactation.

Special precautions
For the dogs:
• In dogs that are extremely weak or have severely compromised liver or kidney function, Profender should be used according to the benefit/risk assessment by the veterinarian.

For the person administering the medication:
• Wash your hands well after administering the tablets.
• In case of accidental ingestion, consult a doctor immediately and show him the package leaflet or the label.
