DRONTAL PLUS is an oral tablet combining febantel, pyrantel embonate, and praziquantel. It is active against certain nematodes, cestodes, and Giardia spp. in dogs. The fixed combination of pyrantel and febantel acts synergistically against nematodes including Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina, Uncinaria stenocephala, Ancylostoma caninum, and Trichuris vulpis, as well as Giardia spp.
Praziquantel targets cestode species such as Taenia spp., Multiceps multiceps, Dipylidium caninum, Mesocestoides spp., Echinococcus granulosus, and Echinococcus multilocularis. It acts against all intestinal phases of these parasites and also has activity against Giardia spp.
Febantel works by inhibiting tubulin polymerization into microtubules, disrupting metabolic and structural functions in the parasite. This depletes energy reserves and kills the parasite within 2 to 3 days.
Each tablet contains febantel 525 mg, pyrantel embonate 175 mg, and praziquantel 175 mg.
