DOLPAC 10 is an oral tablet dewormer for dogs weighing 5 to 20 kg. It treats mixed infestations of adult nematodes (Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina, Ancylostoma caninum, Uncinaria stenocephala, Trichuris vulpis) and cestodes (Dipylidium caninum, Taenia spp.). The product contains three active ingredients: oxantel, pyrantel, and praziquantel.
Pyrantel paralyzes nematode muscles by activating acetylcholine receptors. It is active against Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina, Uncinaria stenocephala, and Ancylostoma caninum but has negligible effect on Trichuris vulpis. Oxantel, a m-oxyphenol derivative of pyrantel, targets Trichuris vulpis. Praziquantel causes muscle contraction, paralysis, and tegument damage in cestodes, acting against adult and larval stages of Echinococcus, Taenia, and Dipylidium.
After oral administration, oxantel absorption is negligible. Pyrantel is rapidly absorbed in small amounts (Tmax = 1.38 h; Cmax = 0.048 µg/ml) and quickly eliminated. Praziquantel is rapidly absorbed (Tmax = 1.28 h; Cmax = 0.4 µg/ml) and eliminated (elimination half-life 1.5 h).
Each divisible tablet (950 mg) contains: oxantel 200.28 mg (as oxantel embonate 559 mg), pyrantel 49.94 mg (as pyrantel embonate 144 mg), and praziquantel 50.00 mg.
Curative treatment in dogs with suspected mixed infestations of adult nematodes (Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina, Ancylostoma caninum, Uncinaria stenocephala, Trichuris vulpis) and cestodes (Dipylidium caninum, Taenia spp.).
Recommended dose: 20 mg oxantel / 5 mg pyrantel / 5 mg praziquantel per kg body weight, equivalent to 1 tablet per 10 kg as a single oral dose. Administer tablets orally according to body weight.
