CYDECTIN ORAL 5L is an oral solution containing moxidectin 1 mg per ml. It is indicated for sheep to treat and prevent gastrointestinal nematodosis and pulmonary nematodosis caused by adult and immature nematodes, including certain parasites resistant to benzimidazoles. It also targets adult nematodes of the respiratory tract.
Moxidectin is a broad spectrum endectocide from the milbemycin family. It is absorbed and reaches peak blood concentrations 9 hours after treatment. The drug distributes to all tissues, with fat as the target tissue where concentrations are 10 to 20 times higher than in other tissues. The depletion half life in fat is 23 to 28 days. Biotransformation occurs via limited hydroxylation, and excretion is primarily through feces.
CYDECTIN ORAL provides persistent activity: 5 weeks against reinfestation by Ostertagia circumcincta and Haemonchus contortus, and 4 weeks against Oesophagostomum columbianum. It is effective against benzimidazole resistant strains of Haemonchus contortus, Ostertagia circumcincta, Trichostrongylus colubriformis, and Cooperia curticei.
